We make a must stop at the world-famous Delgadillo’s Snow Cap restaurant for ice cream or similar treat and then end our day in the old railroad town of Williams, Arizona.

DAY TWO: THE GRAND CANYON RAILROAD AND THE SOUTH RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON

This morning, there are several options on ways to spend the day:

OPTION ONE:  GRAND CANYON RAILROAD ADVENTURE

We magically return back to the 1920’s as we board the Grand Canyon Railroad and ride on rail cars that once held Presidents, Kings, and the very wealthy as they traveled from Williams to the Grand Canyon. Fiddlers and singing cowboys provide live entertainment on the way, and there may even be a train robbery as desperado’s still roam this portion of the old west.

Participants are met at the South Rim train station for lunch and additional touring of the key scenic views of the Grand Canyon. There is an additional fee for this tour.
Breakfast and lunch are included.

OPTION TWO:  HELICOPTOR RIDE TO THE HAVASUPAI FALLS

For an opportunity to see one of the most beautiful places in the Grand Canyon and the American Southwest, consider taking a helicopter ride down to the Havasupai Village for the day. We depart Williams in time to catch the helicopter leaving from the airport at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

This tour allows you to see and experience the unique world of the Havasupai Indians. “Located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, this village boasts spectacular waterfalls, and legendary views that can only be found here.” An optional Indian-guided horseback tour will take you to the waterfall, or an easy one-hour walk is possible as well.

Once the tour is completed, participants are met at the airport and taken to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where they may continue touring the spectacular vistas. An additional fee of $430.00 for the helicopter ride is required.

OPTION THREE:  GRAND CANYON BY MOTOR COACH

Spend the day touring the most scenic lookouts, hotels, and gift shops of the Grand Canyon. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Dinner and lodging are also on the rim for all to enjoy, as well as the opportunity to see and experience the beautiful sunset.

DAY THREE: SEDONA AND HISTORIC JEROME

After seeing the spectacular Grand Canyon sunrise, we travel to Flagstaff and then drive down beautiful Oak Creek Canyon, one of the most scenic and frequently visited routes in all of Arizona.  Once we arrive in Sedona, we take a brief tour of several of the community’s highlights including two vortexes, have lunch in an uptown restaurant, and then head for historic Jerome.

Located in the nearby Mingus Mountains, Jerome is perched precariously on Cleopatra Hill, and has been one of Arizona’s richest mining areas producing over a billion dollars in copper, gold, silver, zinc and lead during the last 77 years. We tour the restored downtown section of the community, spend time in the various stores and shops and then check out the excellent museum that captures a glimpse of the community's interesting past.

Later, we tour Tuzigoot (Apache for “crooked Water”), which is a partially restored remnant of a Sinagua Indian Village built between 1125 and 1400. We conclude our exciting day with a visit to the famous Montezuma Castle, a 12th Century cliff dwelling.

After a brief driving tour of the town and nearby open-pit mine, free time will be given to walk around and enjoy the various shops and historical buildings.

Today, Calico is one of the few remaining original mining towns of the western United States, thanks to the help of Mr. Walter Knott, founder of Knott’s Berry Farm. Knott bought the town in 1951 and started restoring it from old photographs. Five of Calico’s businesses are in original buildings like “Lil’s” Saloon and Lane’s General Store. Others like the school house are exact replicas on exiting foundations. See Calico dressed in Yuletide fashion. Enjoy the Holiday Decorations and Shop for gifts for family and friends.

Step back in time to Turn-of-the-Century Spain and experience the beauty and romance of a Spanish courtyard villa, just steps from downtown’s finest shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
