Ron Helquist
In 1998 Ron started Southern Utah Scenic Tours to take day tours from the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, Utah, to Zion and Bryce National Parks. Ron has lived in Utah most of his life and has spent as much time as possible in and around these beautiful national parks. In starting his company, it was his goal to share the beauty of this unique state with others and to provide a travel experience that would exceed their expectations. Ron achieved this goal by ensuring that the company offers excellent customer service, personable and professional guides, and a quality tour experience.
The success of these day trips quickly expanded to multi-day/park tours. The quality of the services the company offers has resulted in its clients requesting Southern Utah Scenic Tours to also take them to Yellowstone, the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, Hawaii, and the California and Oregon coasts. Ron continues to develop the business by always looking for new and exciting places to visit. The clients also continue to expand. As the Internet became an effective means of planning tours, we now serve individuals and groups from all over the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, and Europe. And we still achieve the same goal: to provide a travel experience that exceeds our clients' expectations.
Ron has a background in organizational training and change and has taught over 600 seminars related to personal growth and development. His love of the Southwest has inspired him to learn about its geological development and history, and its folklore and native inhabitants. His enthusiasm for the beauty and wonder of the Southwest is contagious--we hope you'll want to catch it!
Tom Walker
Tom Walker
Retired School Administrator. Life long resident of Southern Utah. Worked at Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and Zion Canyon as a young man during summers while attending College. Loves the outdoors, hiking, camping and searching for Native American artifacts.
Kent Hugh
Native of Southern Utah and grew up visiting and exploring the national parks in this area: the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Cedar Breaks. He has directed tours to Europe, Israel, Hawaii, Alaska, western Canada, Florida, and the Eastern U.S. Kent loves to travel and enjoys working with people and showing them the sights and beauties of planet Earth. A retired university teacher, Kent often takes his wife Karen along for added zest and spice.
Sarah Woods
Sarah is our primary guide for most of our tours (she is the one in the middle). Informative, fun, interesting, accommodating, are just a few of the comments we get about Sarah. You will love the time you spend with her.
Mike Rickson
Mike Rickson is a native Californian and has family roots in Wyoming and South Dakota. He has enjoyed a life-long love affair with Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park, and the Black Hills of South Dakota. He is avid outdoorsman, cyclist, and historian of the native peoples who have occupied this region for thousands of years. Prepare yourself for a memorable and informative experience as Mike weaves his personal history with the natural history and breath taking views that are at every turn from Jackson, Wyoming to Rapid City, South Dakota.
